On Monday night, February 12, the NYHS Boys’ Varsity Basketball team lost to Crescent School 81-56.

Sam Chernicoff, number 12, tipped for the Lions, and Lukas Love, number 20, tipped for the Crescent Loggers. Crescent won the tipoff, and Conner Bauers of the Crescent Loggers, number 4, made the first shot. While both teams played with ambition and worked hard, Crescent had stronger passes and good communication. The first half ended with a score of 38-27, NYHS losing.

NYHS upped their energy in the third quarter, but so did Crescent, with the final score being 60-39. While NYHS hustled and played hard, the final score was 81-56. “It’s no fun losing,” said Evan Kaufthal, number 13. “But we had a good season, and one game isn’t going to change how we feel about that.”

This tri-district game was loser-out, so this marks the end of the 2023–2024 NYHS basketball season. They ended 5th in the SeaTac League with a record of 8-12.
