On Sunday, January 12, Noam Julius and his family, members of the Israeli Seward Park community, launched their kosher falafel food truck, “Julius Eats,” with its first stop at Congregation Ezra Bessaroth (EB).
“My dad has always made falafel for the community, and my sisters have always been good in the kitchen,” said Julius. “Now we are just doing it more officially.”
Noam’s father, Yisrael Julius, regularly cooks and provides falafel for community members from his home. Inspired by this, the family had the idea to take their efforts to the next level and expand into a food truck.
Noam drove the 17 hours from Seattle down to Las Vegas to pick up the food truck, and then drove back to Seattle with a stop in Los Angeles.
The grand opening at EB was complemented by a shiur led by Rabbi Eyal Amrami. Right outside, the food truck served falafel to everyone who stopped by. “Rabbi Amrami’s class was a spiritual peak, enhanced by delicious falafel,” said community member and NYHS parent Elie Levy “I loved it.”
Currently, the truck is open 3-4 days a week between 5 and 8 p.m. at
locations including Seward Park, North Seattle, and Bellevue.
Noam recently added sabich, soup, and meat kebabs to the menu, and
plans on adding more options such as shawarma and hamburgers.
“I plan on making the truck as accessible and affordable as I can for our community,
as well as making deliveries and eventually expanding the food selection beyond just
falafel,” said Julius. “I really want to give back to this community.”
