On Tuesday night, February 6, the NYHS Boys’ Varsity basketball team lost to the Muckleshoot Tribal School team with a score of 68-88.
The game started with Muckleshoot winning the tip-off and number 21 on the Kings, Charles Moses, making the first shot. As the game continued, the Lions had a hard time keeping up with the Kings. At the end of the first quarter, NYHS was losing 11- 25.
In the first half of the second quarter, NYHS was on a roll, scoring point after point until the Muckleshoot Kings regained power over the scoreboard. The first half ended with a score of 33-40, NYHS losing.
In the third and fourth quarters, the possession of the ball went back and forth very quickly, with each team scoring almost every possession. But the Muckleshoot Kings were still ahead, and the NYHS Lions could not keep up. They lost the game 68-88. “I don’t think we played up to our full potential,” said Leon Varon, 25, a power forward. “We have not yet reached our full potential, but when we do, we can beat anyone.”
The NYHS Lions have still secured themselves a spot in the tri-district games and will play on Saturday, February, 10th.
